Party wall surveys in Ipswich

Looking to resolve a dispute with your neighbour? Hawkins Chartered Surveyors based in Ipswich, Suffolk can help.

The Party Wall Act

In July 1997, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 was enacted and introduced a legal procedure to resolve disputes arising between neighbouring properties. Compliance with this legislation has been made mandatory since 1997. It aims to reduce neighbourly “wars” that are heard by the Court. The Act provides a mechanism through which you can carry out certain types of work, subject to notifying your neighbour and completing the work in a controlled manner. This also protects the interests of the wall or the building structures involved.
